Getting UK Documents Attested for Kuwait
When moving to work in Kuwait or doing business with Kuwaiti companies, you will be asked to have your UK documents attested.
This process is essential for a variety of purposes, including employment, visa applications, conducting business and company registration in Kuwait.
Solicitor Certification
Before attestation, many documents need to be certified by a UK solicitor. This certification confirms that the document is a true copy of the original or that the signature on the document is genuine.
Apostille
After solicitor certification, the document must receive an apostille from the UK government Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO). The apostille is an official government certificate added to the document.
Embassy Stamps
Once your document is legalised with the apostille, the next step is attestation by the Kuwait Embassy in London. This step ensures the document is officially recognized by Kuwait authorities.
Types of Documents Commonly Attested:
- Birth, marriage, and death certificates.
- Educational certificates (degrees, diplomas, teaching certificates).
- Deed polls, driving licences and personal papers.
- Power of Attorney documents. These must be pre-certified and witnessed before they are sent to us. Our solicitor cannot sign these.
Why Documents Need Attesting for Kuwait?
To get a document formally recognised or accepted in Kuwait it will need to be attested in the UK.
If you are planning on working in Kuwait or moving to start a new life in Kuwait, you will be asked to get documents attested. We provide a complete service.
Many documents need to be certified by a UK solicitor or notary public (please note – not all documents need signing). When that is completed, the document will be issued with the apostille from the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO).
The last part of the service is to get the document attested at the embassy. They will add stamps to the document.
We commonly process academic documents, government certificates and personal papers.

Embassy Attestation FAQs
Answering the most popular questions you may have.
Embassy attestation is the process of ‘legalising a UK documents for use in another country. Verifying the authenticity of a document so that it can be recognised by foreign authorities. This normally includes solicitor certification, the UK apostille from the FCDO Legalisation Office, and stamps or certificates from the embassy in London.
We understand what each country requires when attesting documents.
Embassy attestation typically takes around 10 working days after we receive your documents. This does vary, depending on peak season, the type of document we are attesting, and processing times at the embassy we are submitting documents to.
It is important to note, that most of the processing time is due to the embassy. We make every effort to complete all orders quickly, but we do not guarantee completion times. All legalisation times are ‘estimates’ provided as a guide for customers.
Yes, your original documents are handled with the utmost care and security. We offer secure return delivery methods, which you can select when ordering, to ensure that your documents are safe at every stage of the attestation process.

After placing your order, we will provide you with an order number and our address. You will also receive a confirmation email with instructions on how to send us your documents. Once we receive them, we’ll begin the attestation process and you can monitor the progress on our website, by accessing your account. Once completed, we’ll securely return your attested documents by the delivery method you have chosen.
Any UK document may require attestation for use in another country. Common documents include:
- Educational certificates – degrees, PhDs, diplomas, awards
- Teaching certificates – PGCE, QTS, TEFL
- Professional membership certificates – Accounting, Architecture etc.
- Marriage certificates
- Birth certificates
- Criminal record checks – ACRO, DBS
- Commercial documents – contracts, business agreements, Companies House certificates
This is just a small sample of documents we process. It is not an exhaustive list.
Your power of attorney or affidavit must first be signed ‘in the presence’ of a UK notary public or a solicitor. We are unable to help with this step. The solicitor or notary will ‘witness’ you sign the document. This should be done ‘in person’ at a solicitor’s or notary’s office. Please ensure the notary public or solicitor has confirmed their signature to the FCDO.
When you have the document signed and witnessed, we can provide the apostille and embassy attestation.
