Why Business Documents Need Attesting
Your UK company documents will need to attested at the Thai Embassy if you are entering into contracts or doing business in Thailand. We provide a complete service for UK businesses that need to legalise documents for Thailand.
The attestation process will normally require the document being certified by a UK solicitor or notary public (please note – not all documents need signing), followed by the apostille from the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO). This step confirms that the document has been legally recognised in the UK. Your document will then need further attestation by the embassy in London.

Embassy Attestation FAQs
Answering the most popular questions you may have.
Embassy attestation is the process of ‘legalising’ a UK documents for use in another country. Verifying the authenticity of a UK document so that it can be recognised by foreign authorities. This normally includes solicitor certification, the UK apostille from the FCDO Legalisation Office, and stamps or certificates from the embassy in London.
We understand what each country requires when attesting documents.
Embassy attestation typically takes around 10 working days after we receive your documents. This does vary, depending on peak season, the type of document we are attesting, and processing times at the embassy we are submitting documents to.
It is important to note, that most of the processing time is due to the embassy. We make every effort to complete all orders quickly, but we do not guarantee completion times. All legalisation times are ‘estimates’ provided as a guide for customers.
Yes, your original documents are handled with the utmost care and security. We offer secure return delivery methods, which you can select when ordering, to ensure that your documents are safe at every stage of the attestation process.

Any UK document may require attestation for use in another country. Common documents include:
- Educational certificates – degrees, PhDs, diplomas, awards
- Teaching certificates – PGCE, QTS, TEFL
- Professional membership certificates – Accounting, Architecture etc.
- Marriage certificates
- Birth certificates
- Criminal record checks – ACRO, DBS
- Commercial documents – contracts, business agreements, Companies House certificates
This is just a small sample of documents we process. It is not an exhaustive list.
Your power of attorney or affidavit must first be signed ‘in the presence’ of a UK notary public or a solicitor. We are unable to help with this step. The solicitor or notary will ‘witness’ you sign the document. This should be done ‘in person’ at a solicitor’s or notary’s office. Please ensure the notary public or solicitor has confirmed their signature to the FCDO.
When you have the document signed and witnessed, we can provide the apostille and embassy attestation.
